This corresponds with the in-game memory above, with some key differences: Atem is not able to summon Ra (because Yuugi will not be born for another 3000 years and therefore the power of friendship is not in play) and there are no time shenanigans. The Thief King is successful in forcing Atem to hand over the Puzzle, hoooorrraaaay.

Let me just... type this one up. While everyone looks for Kaiba, Bakura Ryou slips into Yuugi's room on the blimp, and...

BAKURA: Is this is Yuugi-kun's room...?
[He catches sight of the Millennium Ring on the table and his whole face lights up.]
BAKURA: Ah!
BAKURA: It's here, it's here! I finally found it!
[He immediately puts the Ring on.]
BAKURA: But how mean of Yuugi-kun...
BAKURA: Why would he hide my Ring without telling me~?
[Before leaving the room, he slips the Ring under his shirt to conceal it.]
BAKURA: Hee hee...

And then he goes back to looking for Kaiba. I think this scene is pretty clear evidence that Bakura Ryou and Dark Bakura no longer have an antagonistic relationship at this point in the manga. I mean, I doubt they're completely aibro-ing it up like the Yuugis, but this is so far removed from their early interactions that. Well. Yeah.

FORM: a kunzite feather (stick behind your ear to use)
SHAREABLE: 2/3

Mostly this is notable because Bakura Ryou gets upset at Bobasa for not letting him go with the others, rather than getting mad at Dark Bakura, whose fault it technically is (the translation makes it look like it's Dark Bakura who's mentally calling Bobasa names, but the word choice in the Japanese version makes it pretty obvious it's Ryou...) This is split up into several chapters but here are some relevant links: here, here and here. Presumably this memory also includes the offscreened stuff of the Bakuras somehow bringing everyone's unconscious bodies into the room with the diorama as well...

FORM: a small hand mirror with a dark gray casing
SHAREABLE: 5/7

Dark Bakura tells Atem that he had Bakura Ryou create the (really rather impressive) model of the palace and the Theban Necropolis for the final TRPG. Atem jumps to the conclusion that Bakura Ryou was coerced into this, but that doesn't make very much sense, given the way Ryou's attitude towards the Ring seems to have shifted dramatically by the end of Battle City. We never see it onscreen, but I feel pretty confident saying that to a certain extent they probably worked on it together, with Dark Bakura providing the general instructions and specific details and Ryou doing the actual model-making.

The Millennium Ring doesn't start to show any signs of life until Malik's main personality is back in control and Dark Malik has disappeared, so this memory doesn't include Malik surrendering or any of the duel. It does include: Kaiba announcing Yuugi as the winner of Battle City; Malik giving Yuugi Ra, the Rod, and the Ring; Malik stripping; and the instructions for activating the tablet of memories.

Incidentally, this scene is notable because Dark Bakura's spirit form is still Bakura Ryou, even though Ryou isn't currently in possession of the Ring. He even still has Ryou's injuries. I JUST THOUGHT I'D POINT THAT OUT because I find it interesting.

- ZORC NECROPHADES
- The spirits of Kul Elna are not at all at rest, and in fact have remained in the village holding a grudge this whole time. How he reacts to this is... well, we'll have to see. Because on the one hand, Ruka consoled him about the spirits of the dead in his heart game. Onnnnn the other hand, reality kind of sucks. SO THIS WILL BE FUN.

HEEEERE WE GO.

Cut for mild gore and disturbing content. )

So. Yeah. In order to create the Millennium Items, Akhenaden needed 99 human sacrifices. To get these, he secretly slaughtered the entire village of Kul Elna... and then fed their bodies to vats of boiling metal and made the Items out of their remains. I'm assuming that even in its dying state (see my earlier post on headcanon regarding the village), Kul Elna was home to more than 99 people, and the rest were slaughtered just so that there would be no witnesses.

The Thief King would have been around six years old at this time, and he saw the whole thing. His friends and family were murdered right in front of him in horribly degrading ways and he couldn't do anything about it but watch. He was also the only survivor. (SHUT UP, GX MANGA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU)

I can't really emphasize enough how important this memory is. I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to convey how much the memory of Kul Elna's destruction is Dark Bakura's character, and I don't really know how! But it's basically the source of the Thief King's motives for wanting the Items and revenge, and it's why he eventually becomes the entity known as Dark Bakura. It answers most of the questions Shes has about his memories.

It's also going to cause a major trauma-induced breakdown when he takes the memory.

Breaking into Akhenamkhanen's tomb. AWW YEAH. [offscreen canon]

FROM: Nimue's D&D/Pokémon battle game
FORM: A small vial of water with a kunzite ribbon wrapped around it.
SHAREABLE: no

This is not something we're shown in the manga, unlike the anime. Basically, we can assume that the Thief King broke into Akhenamkhanen's tomb, in the process learning all the traps, until he reached the burial chamber. At which point he grabbed a bunch of treasure and also Akhenamkhanen's mummy itself. The anime never has the mummy leave the sarcophagus, in the manga the Thief King later drags the mummy itself into the throne room by the neck, SOOOOOOO...

What he learned:
- He is clearly the best thief ever.
- He's grabbing the previous Pharaoh's mummy in order to force the current Pharaoh to hand over the Millennium Items.

- Trapping people's souls in dolls is fun, okay.
